Amanda Brugel

Brugel is the only Canadian actor in Season 1 was not seen. It has been her main cast member ever since. In response to questions about her character on the show, and whether there are any similarities to her personal life beyond the camera, Brugel said that she had used her experience of race discrimination in relation to the way Marthas are considered. "I do not just apply this in her role as a Martha however, as I've mentioned, my own past moments when I'm feeling like I was being held down through circumstances due to race." Though I've not experienced physical abuse because of my skin colour however, I have certainly experienced the verbal abuse.
